The World watched a real fairy tale wedding yesterday as Prince William and Catherine Middleton exchanged vows. It was a breath taking experience watching on TV. I can not begin to imagine what it would have been like to be there in person.
The entire ceremony from the procession to the Royal Kiss was excellently and perfectly orchestrated and executed, nothing was coincidental or left to chance. Trust the English for their pump and pagentry. Amazing!
For those ladies who are inspired by this wedding and want to be a Princess on your wedding day, here are some tips from the HRH Catherine - Duchess of Cambridge herself.
1. Health.
Everyone noticed how slim and toned the Princess looked in her dress. I am sure she engaged in some training and exercise priory to yesterday. Brides should take a leaf out of her book. It is the body of the bride that makes a wedding dress.
Try getting yourself into a fitness regime months before your wedding day. If possible get a personal trainer or a gym instructor assist you build and tone the right muscles the right way to avoid bulky muscles or injury.
Speak to your GP or seek advice on a healthy diet that suits your body type and would provide your body, skin and bones with the necessary nutrients for that perfect wedding glow. Avoid crash diets as they would make you feel stressed and look tired.
HRH looked perfectly suited for her dress. Her shoulder were square and moderately toned to give her the perfect neckline for her dress, slim arms in the lace sleeves and nicely cinched in waist with the corset sweetheart top silhouetted under the intricately detailed lace. Absolutely fabulous.
2. BEAUTY
HRH had some lesson on how to apply her own makeup because she said she wanted Prince Willaim to recognise her. That's brilliant. We can see her make up was minimal but suiting the classic, ageless look. She had smoky eyes (lightly smoky) and rouged her cheek bones and capped it with a lipstick to match. She was beautiful and elegant looking without having tonnes of makeup on. You can get your makeup artist give you a flawless look with your natural tones worked in in the colours to achieve that effortlessly beautiful look on your wedding day.
A relaxing spa treatment a few days to your wedding day is definitely needed to relax your nerves from all the planning but facial and deep exfoliation much be done 2weeks or more before the D-day to give you skin time to repair and recoup.
3. HEAD PIECE
Catherine has a Cartier Vintage piece, a tailored tiara from 1936, borrowed from the queen. It suited her tulle veil and the V-neck line of her dress.
Of course many brides are going to mirror this look and you don't need a Queen as a grand-mother-in-law to pull this off. You can have yours made with swaroski crystals or get a pretty costume tiaras to achieve this look.
4. THE DRESS
There has been a lot of speculation and talk about this Sarah Burton creation from it being Catherine's idea of her perfect dress to it being completely reminiscent of Grace Kelly's 1956 wedding dress for her marriage to Prince Rainier III. One thing still remain and that is the Dress was absolutely stunning and fitted the Princess perfectly. The dress and its designer were a well kept secret till yesterday as Catherine wanted to surprise her Prince.
The dress was made from Chantilly and English Lace with very intricate embroidery and designs cost a whooping 250,000 pounds. WOW!!! Incredible.
The dress had a 2metre train. Now for brides that want to replicate that, it would certainly work for the ceremony and the royal kiss and the champagne breakfast ...if you are doing it the Royal wedding style but such a long train would not be comfortable for the wedding party.
HRH Catherine obviously had this all figured out and changed into an another Sarah Burton creation to allow her freedom to boogie down, royalty or not.
5. BRIDAL PARTY
If you find you have too many friends and family members and having difficulty deciding who your bridesmaids are going to be then having a few Little bridesmaids or flower girls and little grooms men is the perfect solution. You would not have to go through the cat fights and the back talk about how horrible the dress is and all the difficulties associated with having and organising bridesmaids.
6. HUSBAND
Well this is a tricky one. Not all of us are going to marry real life Princes but make a Prince out of the man you are tying the knot with. Prince William and Princess Catherine may be royalty but they are human beings just like you and me who are making one of the biggest decisions in their lives and have to work at making their marriage a success. So see him as a Prince at the beginning and treat him like one and with God's guidance and some work on your side and you should be on your way to the Palace in marriage paradise.
7. THE KISS
Yes, the English Royal family are not supposed to show emotion but you can certainly read the body language in this Royal Kiss. The Man is totally in Love but trying to retrain himself and the woman is also in love but in total control. A woman after my heart. The kiss is innocent yet sensual, with its roots deep in trust and respect for each other. This kiss says a lot more than they expected it would especially with the smiles on their faces. It tells an emotional story that is true, heart felt and very very real.
Brides and grooms, keep your kiss true, sensual and heart felt and not a tongue-fest or public display of how good a kisser you are.
There we have it. Wedding style tips from the HRH herself and we all thought they were old fashioned and traditional.
