Seriously High Fashion Sense this Spring and Summer

We may not have spring in Lagos but we sure do follow spring fashion...

After Lagos fashion week, confidently i can say that fashion in Lagos has up-ed the ante and been kicked up several notches.  Its what i call Seriously High Fashion.

Here are a few tips to update your Seriously high Fashion Sense.

1. SHORTS

Shorts are so in its incredible. Denim, floral print, velvet, bold colours whatever.  However you like it but remember to keep them loose, tuck in a simple blouse and belt it up.

2. Jumpsuits and play suits

Jumpsuits and play suits hit the fashion scene two summers ago but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere.  They are featured on many runways and still looking fabulous.
Make yours stand out but getting it made in ankara (holland wax or popularly called African fabric) and add an embellished Elastic waist band and some heels.  This would elongate your legs and accentuate your waist line.  Jumpsuit flatter most body types and hide a lot of body secrets so don't feel left out...get one.

3. Go Green
Go green and be envied this season.  Emerald, leaf, Jade, pistachio and lime are very bold and versartile shades of green and can be teamed with pastel, warm or calm colours.  Looking for a rich colour for your bridesmaids, then go green this season.  My personal favourite is emerald.  Look out for Embellish me's Emerald green teardrop, pillbox and flat base head pieces.

Green is undeniably and doubtedly the colour of the season and bridal colour for 2011.  Choose from the above mentioned shades as they suite a wide band of skin tones.

4.  Tapered Trousers

These are trousers that sit high on the waist, widen around the hips and thighs and are tapered (slimmed) around the ankle.  It is fashion of the 80 and early 90's back in full swing.  Tapered trousers, depending on the colour can be worn formally and ofcourse casually.
Wear it with a ruffled blouse or chiffon long sleeve shirt , tuck in and slap on some heels as  tapered trousers can make ones legs seem a bit shorter if you are not very tall.

My besto Riri (lol...i wish) loves tapered trousers and she rocks them with cropped tops, Ts, blouses... anything goes really with my Riri.

On your next ice cream date, try  floral tapered pants with a nude tube top and cropped jacket with a wide neck to show off your Embellish me bib necklace.  Wear a bold lip colour (MAC - morange or Girl about town) and nice sunglasses.  Now that's seriously high fashion.  Take a picture and post..... i would love that.

5. PLEATS

Pleats, Yes I said Pleats.  Pleats have made a more glamorous come back not only on skirts but on tops, dresses, pants and even bags. Mini, big, trapeze and the lot.  They have graced many runways lately and have not lost that essence of elegance.

Wear a pleated outfit that flatters your body for instance lady with a small bottom and slim hips can opt for a high waisted pleated skirt as this would make one look more curvaceous while bottom heavy ladies can go for pleats tops on high waisted pants or a straight slim fitted skirt and add a skinny waist belt.

If you can't think of any valid reason to wear pleats then just wear it because they do not need ironing.
